2008 had an outrageous amount of comebacks: but appearance wise, Changmin takes the crown. DBSK came back to Korea with a new sexy style, but unlike Jaejoong and Yunho, lil' Minnie didn't take to flashing his abs at every opportunity and whilst all 5 boys had hacked the miles of their hair, Changmin's didn't cry EMO! like EMO!chun's did.
Changmin stepped back into Korea looking grown-up, manly and toned having left the kitten kissing days far behind. It's great to see that Changmin found his Rising Sun sexiness again, but this time with a great side-serving of manhood.
Most Attention Worthy Newcomer:
I happen to think that SHINee are the best thing to happen in 2008 and although Minho is not my favourite, I can't deny his deliciousness and it would seem that Korea's fashion industry can't deny it either. Flaming Charisma might be a stupid nickname but is a pretty accurate description and the fact that he's about as brave as a bunny-wabbit off stage makes him even more irresistable.
The 'Made-You-Look' Award For Services To Fashion:
When put in a boyband alongside one of kpop's most outrageous fashionistas, it's hard to be noticed for what you're wearing. But despite G-Dragon's 'LOOK-AT-ME-DAMN-YOU' style, TOP always stands out from the rest. Whether it's because he just looks good next to the rest of them, or because of his height, or maybe his cooler-than-thou attitude, TOP always grabs your attention. That's fine with me. This boy knows how to dress. Whatever theme Big Bang has going on, TOP manages that perfect balance of attention grabbing and style (despite his questionable choice of accessories...safety goggles anyone?). Hell, this boy deserves to win simply for how he looks in a suit.
The 'So Hot' Award For Services To Hair:
It would seem that even Bong himself is puzzled by his win. Let me explain.... . Kpop is an industry where everyone has good hair, it takes that little bit more to be noticed for it. GD has that little bit extra. In 2008, which shall be remembered as the year of the bowlcut, GD stood out from the crowd with his styles. Whether if was long with a hippy band or the half-hawk style of sex, G-Dragon broke out from the mainstream, but more importantly than that, the boy looked good. Luckily for him his personality helps him pull off styles that would probably cause most people an injury, gotta love it!
The 'Fine Wine' Award for Improvements Over Time:
"Plastic surgery!" I hear you cry. Hell yes. And look what a good job it did! The boy didn't look good, now the boy looks good! His recent comeback with Hwang Project and the Soul Concert people also show him looking happy, healthy and more confident than ever and it's really awesome to see him like that despite the rough time he's had recently.
The Award For Bodily Achievements:
toward the public who told him he could make it in Hollywood, I thank you. To the trainers he nicked off the 300 cast, I thank you. To the man himself for developing arms and a stomach that make my eyes remember the reason behind their existence, I thank you.
